Here is Danielle’s feedback and comments on each of the top 3 images:
1. Red-winged wren by Chris T – comments: A hard subject to capture as wrens are always so busy and fast moving. The bird is nicley framed using the natural surrounds. The depth of field used and compression of the lens draws my attention to the focal point – the bird.
2. Chang Lai Garden by James C – comments: I do love a great reflection and this image is a classic example of when the ‘rule of thirds’ of the horizon can be broken and works. In this image we have fabulous balance, contrast and use of reflections.
3. Kelly’s Knob Lookout by Chris T – comments: Sometimes in a landscape it is hard to depict the size. By placing a subject such as a human we obtain a feeling for the landscape and its vastness. I do wonder what the image may look like with some of the left-hand side cropped off.
