New Conservation Holidays launched in Victoria
Eight new conservation holiday packages have been launched in Victoria recently as part of Conservation Volunteers Australia’s (CVA) ‘Naturewise Eco Escapes’ program. The new products have been developed in partnership between CVA and Parks Victoria (PV), offering meaningful and unique small group travel experiences.
“This is an exceptional way to experience a destination – by getting directly involved in the conservation of its wildlife, plants and landscapes, having exclusive access to some amazing natural areas, and working closely with environmental experts on key projects”, says Rod Hillman, CEO of Ecotourism Australia.
“The new Naturewise products in Victoria are a great example of tourism being used to showcase the beauty of our natural areas whilst also contributing to our conservation outcomes and regional tourism growth”, Mr. Hillman said.
Alysia Brandenburg, Tourism Manager at Parks Victoria highlighted the value of the new Naturewise Eco Escapes. “We are thrilled to have so many new tourism products where people can experience working with our Rangers to support important research and make a valuable contribution to park management goals”.
“These eight new products will assist Parks Victoria in making better informed management decisions in our National Parks to help conserve some of our most valuable natural assets”, she said.
The new Naturewise Eco Escapes range from day trips to four-day expeditions, with various levels of conservation work catering to different types of travelers.
Marko Sanovic, Tourism Product Development Manager at CVA, believes that Naturewise products will provide a boost to the state’s nature-based tourism options. “Victoria is quickly becoming a hub for conservation holidays in Australia. There are now plenty of truly unique ways to experience the natural and cultural diversity of the state – from helping save the Eastern Barred Bandicoots from extinction on a day trip to Woodlands, to discovering the rich biodiversity of Little Desert National Park.”
The development of the new Naturewise products in Victoria has been co-funded by the Australian Government under the T-QUAL Grant program.
